Welcome to Salzburg, austria....home to Sound of Music lore, and Mozart's birthplace. Quite a fun little city!
Dom Platz...where the Dome church is like a square.
If you stand just so where the cathedral entrance is, you can line up the statue of Mary with the crown on the building being held by the angels...pretty neat trick!
WE were treated to a choral concert while we were there...inside the cathedral it sounded awesome!
Saw street entertainers everywhere.
This is one of many odd statues in the city...this huge ball is in the square before you go up to the fortress on the hill.
The entrance/exit to the Beer Garden we climbed up to before going up to the Fortress. Yummy lunch and lovely view!
See how tall these walls are....the fortress kept Salzburg from ever being attacked. It was too terrifying!
Inside the Fortress.
Touring the fortress museum. One of the many arch-bishops that were also Princes, and ruled over the town.
One of many views from the top of the hill, over Salzburg. You can see part of the old city walls.
A view of the interior of the fortress from the top of the tower we got to climb up.
A great view of the river and the palace on the "new town side" of the river.
They do concerts in the fortress at night.
Inside the castle.
Even they had a toilet!
Sound of Music puppets.
